ABSTRACT

In this chapter, Business Intelligence (BI) adoption process of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which are some of the crucial actors in the economy of Turkey, has been discussed based on literature review and an empirical research. In this respect, we tried to discuss the concept of BI within the framework of the definition of the BI, need for BI, benefits and challenges of BI, BI adoption of SMEs, importance and future of BI, and BI capabilities. Following, an empirical research focusing on managers' perception of benefits and challenges in the BI adoption process has been conducted in 126 SMEs. Five Likert scale has been used to measure managers' perception and ANOVA analysis conducted to determine significant changes due to characteristics of SMEs. Research analysis revealed that there are significant differences between the managers' perception of benefits and challenges.
