ABSTRACT
Maya is a 35-year-old single woman. A digital native, Maya is extremely comfortable with all things digital. Her job as Director of Training at a technical college is an “always on, always connected” lifestyle she finds pretty compatible with her ADD. “My days are never boring and I have a lot of freedom to do my work without a lot of micromanagement,” Maya says. On a jaunt to a nearby coffee shop for an espresso to pump her up after her usual 3:00 p.m. dip in energy, Maya was looking down at her cell phone and BAM! She slipped on gravel left on the sidewalk during a recent repair. Her ankle, twisted in an unnatural position, caused passers-by to stop and aid her as she sat in pain and embarrassment on the sidewalk. One called 911, another reached her boyfriend by text, a third called her boss, and a fourth generously accompanied Maya in the ambulance to the emergency room. “I am so grateful to my good Samaritans,” Maya told her boyfriend, now at her bedside posting photos of Maya and her cast on Facebook. “Maybe one of them will see the post and contact me so I can thank them,” Maya said hopefully.
