It is always important to be able to measure the success of any programme and this is no exception. With any of the Talkabout programmes, we encourage group facilitators to use pre and post assessment data to show progress. For this programme, you can use the Talkabout Assessment for Sex Education (pages 17–18) to show progress using the 6 point rating scale:

Not present – They are not able to demonstrate knowledge even with support / prompting

Knowledge emerging – They can give a basic answer with 1 or 2 ideas with prompting

Knowledge developing – They can give an adequate answer but it lacks detail

Knowledge present in structured situation – They can give a full answer within in a structured setting

Knowledge present but not consistent – They are not always able to use knowledge to act appropriately

Knowledge present – They are be able to show this knowledge and understanding in all settings
