ABSTRACT

Mass media-mediated messages are comprised of content and form. Content refers to the informational component of a message through specific details of ideas, facts and opinions that socializes as to care and certain issues and not others. Whereas form consists of the cognitive component of a message, the way the message is packaged and delivered. Making sense of languages and images differs with temporal and spatial orientations. Audiences derive meanings, pleasures and symbolic equipment from the mass media messages. This chapter attempts to bring a comprehensive understanding of different media messages and their impact on human behavior.
