ABSTRACT

Continental and marine Triassic sediments occur in Wadi Araba along the western Red Sea coast, northern and central Sinai, the Nile Delta region (Klitzsch, 1990b), and the subsurface of the Ghazalat Basin in the northern Western Desert (Keeley et al., 1990, Keeley & Massoud, 1998). They have not been identified in Southern Egypt, although rocks of probable Permo-Triassic age, such as the Lakia Formation , were identified in NW Sudan, near the Egyptian border (Klitzsch, 1990b, Wyscik, 1990).
