ABSTRACT
This penultimate chapter summarises what has been revealed about the conciliation process, and the dynamics of empathy within that process, by employing metaphor analysis.
SUMMARY OF METAPHOR ANALYSIS
Metaphor has been investigated as discourse activity, integral to talkingand-thinking and understood as a complex dynamic system on multiple
socio-cognitive dimensions. Metaphor analysis combines close scrutiny of metaphors with analysis of lexical, syntactic and rhetorical choices in immediate dialogic action, and, on a longer timescale, the contribution of metaphors to narratives, justifi cations and explanations as they are presented and re-presented.
