ABSTRACT
A microphone changes sound waves (variations in air pressure) into electrical waveforms (variations in voltage). A mic’s capsule contains the diaphragm assembly. The diaphragm is a very thin flexible membrane that moves corresponding to the sound wave energy that it is exposed to. A mic is a transducer that changes acoustical energy into electrical energy.
