ABSTRACT

It’s the lucky few who record professional large ensembles on a regular basis, and while large ensemble recording may not be a goal of many people setting up home studios or just starting out in audio engineering, you never know when you might get a call from a local orchestra or choir, or a friend or relative’s school, because they have a concert they would like to get a good recording of. This chapter is not meant to be exhaustive, but just to give you enough information to know how to approach large ensembles in a concert situation, and get good predictable results the first time you do.
