ABSTRACT
Progressive deterioration of hoisting operations safety is the reason for increased production costs of coal, ores or other minerals. It also has a negative impact on safety conditions in Polish mines. This study presents compiled results of analyses related to technological advances and reliability of hoist equipment in Polish mines. The results of research programs run at the University of Mining and Metallurgy are presented. These confirm the feasibility of providing the required safety levels at minimal costs.
