ABSTRACT
This is different from what was seen in the past when other
service-oriented infrastructures were proposed (e.g.,
CORBA and DCE). This alone will enhance the potential
for success with Web services standards. Companies have
been slow to move toward embracing Web services for
various reasons: up-front investments, the newness of the
technology, and also the maturity of the security solutions.
Just this year, companies are moving from point-to-point or
service-to-service internal applications to enterprisewide
and externally facing, many-to-many implementations.
