ABSTRACT

Disaster recovery planning (DRP) is the process that iden-

tifies all activities that will be performed by all participat-

ing personnel to respond to a disaster and recover an

organization’s IT infrastructure to normal support levels.

The recovery process is typically addressed as a series of

phases that include the response phase (including emer-

gency response, damage assessment, and damage mitiga-

tion); the recovery phase (instructions on migration to a

temporary alternate site); the resumption phase (instruc-

tions on transitioning to “normal” IT service levels from

the temporary alternate site[s]); and the restoration phase

(instructions on migration back to the original site or to a

new, permanent location).
