ABSTRACT
The aim of this Chapter is to show how to apply the sentinel method to a river. In Section 4.1 we present the physical background and model the pollution in a river in the case where this pollution is due to a consumption of oxygen by carbonated wastes, thus reducing the oxygen concentration at the disposal of animal or vegetal species. In Section 4.2 we give an exact expression for the pollutant concentration in the particular case of a rectangular domain. In Section 4.3 we show how to implement the sentinel method in this particular case.
