ABSTRACT

The primary aim of network analysis is to monitor the progress of a project and plan for the completion of a project in a given time. Network analysis is operated in various forms under a number of titles such as critical path analysis, projects evaluation and review technique (PERT) and critical path method. This chapter covers five aspects to the network analysis: drawing a network, analyzing a network, calculating float times, determining uncertain activity times, and allocation of resources. A network can be analyzed into a number of different paths or routes. A path is a sequence of activities that can take readers from start to end of the network. Frequently the results of PERT are similar to other network analyses. Gnatt charts can be used to estimate the amount of resources required for a project.
