ABSTRACT
Plastids Plastids are a family of organelles bounded by two external membranes. Family members include: photosynthetic chloroplasts; chromoplasts containing pigments; leucoplasts involved in lipid biosynthesis; amyloplasts that store starch; and etioplasts, an intermediate stage in production of chloroplasts.
