ABSTRACT
Vegetative structure of Equisetopsida There are about 20 species of horsetails, worldwide in distribution. All are herbaceous but can reach 10 m. They have a jointed, ribbed stem with microphylls and whorls of branches and extensive rhizome and root systems. Silica is deposited giving them their roughness.
