ABSTRACT
Cycads There are about 76 species of cycads of the tropics and subtropics. They have stout trunks with a pith and little secondary thickening, usually unbranched, and long pinnate leaves, interspersed with scale leaves. Fossils date back to the Permian and include slender branched trees.
