ABSTRACT

Although these conveying systems have been in use for well over one hundred years, they have been rather neglected. This is despite the fact that they are widely used for materials such as cement, fly ash and alumina, and are very economical to operate. The main problem is that they have, until recently, only been able to operate on a downward incline and as a consequence have been referred to as airassisted gravity conveyors or “air slides”. They have now been developed to operate horizontally and have considerable potential for further development.
