ABSTRACT
Water has always been an important element in civil engineering. Since man has begun to defend himself against flooding and to save water for periods of drought, he has used engineering works. Traditionally, civil engineers have the task to design such structures. This means, that they have always needed the skill to predict the effectiveness of these structures. At present, numerical models are important tools for such predictions.
