ABSTRACT

It seems that most books dealing with human factors in aviation spend many pages on the topic of CRM (crew resource management). The necessity for crew members to communicate, coordinate, and work as a team is not something that has developed since the mid 1980s when the term CRM first became popular. The importance of communication between crew members and good teamwork has been recognized for well over 50 years. If you know of anyone who was a bomber pilot during the Second World War, ask them if communications, coordination, and teamwork among the crew members was important.
