ABSTRACT

Description: Roferon A is a recombinant human interferon alfa-2a. The 165-amino acid, 19kDa single chain polypeptide is produced in Escherichia coli using recombinant DNA technology. It differs from the natural molecule in containing an additional methionine residue at its N terminus and in lacking glycosylation, though it retains the biological activity of the naturally occurring molecule. It is supplied as a liquid formulation in vials or prefilled syringes at various strengths (usually 6 to 36 million IU active/ml) for intravenous or subcutaneous administration.
