ABSTRACT

Cloning is commonplace and the human genome is elucidated at a rapid pace.

We have established a plausible pathogenesis and begun to make significant

progress in design and execution of rational treatments for many diseases of the

skin. Exciting progress in development of drugs that have immunomodulatory

effects on psoriasis has vastly expanded our understanding of the disease itself

and clarified many complex mechanisms by which the immune system can be

regulated. The question of how drugs work and by what mechanisms they

produce toxicity has never been more relevant or capable of solution.
