ABSTRACT
A full understanding of how the Electronic Filing System (EFS) of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) works requires familiarization with its terminology, the process of patent application publication, and the submission process, which can vary with the type of application filed. This chapter reviews the common elements of different applications, as well as their peculiarities.
