ABSTRACT
In diffuse polyneuropathy in diabetics, both small and large nerve fibers are affected leading to loss of protective sensations of the feet. Rarely they are selectively affected as in painful neuropathy, where selectively small never fiber function is lost like thermal sensation but other sensations like touch and vibration are preserved.
