Estimates for the conventional Poisson model, the two-class (NPMLE) and normal random intercept Poisson models and the ZIP model are shown in Table 11.2 with corresponding expected frequencies given in Table 11.1. The BIC and AIC defined in Sections 8.4.2 and 8.4.3, respectively, are also reported in
Table 11.2, where we have used the number of children (797) for N and the number of estimated parameters for v. (As discussed in Section 8.4.2, determining N and v for AIC and BIC is not obvious in latent variable models.) The smallest AIC and BIC are shown in bold in the table.
