ABSTRACT
First, will be discussed in Sec. 2. 2, the various factors upon which sonoluminescence SL depends, as known up to 1989. This SL is often called multi-bubble sonoluminescence MBSL.1990 is a very important year in SL, it being the year in which Gaitan (1990), Gaitan and Crum (1990a, 1990b) and Gaitan et al. (1992) discovered single bubble sonoluminescence, SBSL, now usually just called SL, as a reproducible phenomenon. SBSL will be discussed in Chapter 3. Lepoint and Lepoint-Mullie (1992), in Fig. 2.1a, give a useful diagram showing the two modes of sonoluminescence.
