ABSTRACT
Despite perfect design and correct material selection, many components fail prematurely. A great majority of these failures are attributed to the presence of defects generated during manufacturing. Most of the defects essentially develop because of the abuse of science during manufacturing. Failures are triggered when the manufacturing defects are either greater in number or larger than those considered during design.
