ABSTRACT
The management of simple data sets is an important operation for many scientists and engineers. Data should be looked at, critically, for errors and consistency. Questions on whether all members of a set are peers or whether outliers are present need to be answered in most cases. Ways to combine data from various sources or that produced by the same source at different times is sometimes an important issue. This chapter describes the techniques that are most generally useful for the above purposes.
