ABSTRACT
To get ready for the challenges posed by new-age metro applications (see chapter 1), metro service providers (SPs) have to ensure that their network operations are both efficient and reliable while utilizing available network resources and optimizing traffic performance. Traffic engineering (TE) helps metro SPs to optimize the performance of their operational networks at both the traffic and resource levels.
