The two things that should drive your project are requirements and deadlines. The calendar tends to take care of itself, although there will be those white-knuckle moments every now and then. As for requirements, with the possible exception of hosting productive meetings, the single most difficult challenge facing the project manager is ensuring that the right requirements are derived from scope.
