ABSTRACT
The third part of the 20th century witnessed a spectacular advancement in free-radical chemistry. This progress had a major impact on organic synthesis. Among the number of methods developed, one of the mildest and most flexible ways of generating “disciplined radicals” is by using thiohydroxamates, usually known as Barton esters.
