ABSTRACT
In Chapter 4, you did not have to consider the types of local area networks (LANs) to be connected other than noting that transmission delays and buffer memory requirement computations were based on several average frame sizes assumed to be flowing on a network. This enabled us to develop general models that can be tailored to a specific network environment by exercising a model with the appropriate frame size monitored or estimated to be carried by a network.
