ABSTRACT
This chapter briefly reviews background information on different signal processing issues of wireless mobile communications systems targeting the next-generation scenarios. The overview includes the channel characterization at the beginning of the chapter and then it steps through modulation techniques, multiple access schemes, coding, and diversity techniques. Here, along with the presentation of current research evidence, key challenges for the next-generation systems have been addressed.
