ABSTRACT

The development of a tire vacuum pyrolysis process from the laboratory to the industrial scale is reported. This research included characterization of the pyrolysis products, the development of commercial applications for the

capacity of 3 t/h. Fundamental data on the pyrolysis kinetics are presented. The heat of the pyrolysis reaction was determined in a pilot unit by measuring the temperature change of a bath of molten salts brought into indirect thermal contact with the pyrolysing tire particles. These data allowed us to model the heat transfer and to develop a new moving and stirred bed vacuum pyrolysis reactor with high heat-transfer capacity.
