ABSTRACT

With the five-level framework as a guide to movement through the supply chain evolution, it is possible to point out where progress has been made by firms across many industries, and to establish a format for calibration. By considering where others have advanced, a firm can determine if similar progress is advantageous. It can also create an order of magnitude gap describing the difference between current best practices and the firm’s performance. Analyzing this gap provides a guide for choosing the areas that need improvement and the models that could help close the gap.
