ABSTRACT
This order comprising only the family Mugilidae has been placed in its own order close to the atheriniforms or in an unresolved polychotomy (see Nelson 1994 for a review). Characters for the order are given in Table Introduction 1 and meristics in Tables Introduction 2-4.
