ABSTRACT

Two species of berycids (Beryx splendens and B. decadactylus) are found in our area though worldwide there is another genus and several more species. These two species are found in tropical and temperate seas of all oceans including our area. Mundy (1990) described larvae of Beryx spp. and late larvae and juveniles of both species. Most of his material was from the central Pacific, but is applicable to our area. Mundy (1990) reviews the history of ELH identifications and descriptions.
