ABSTRACT
The network and server security are critical components of people security infrastructure, but they are not the only components. One often-overlooked area is client security. The computers are powerful devices and are often loaded with sensitive information. The developers and personnel in marketing, human resources, and accounting all maintain information that could harm the company if it is lost, damaged, or released to the public. The companies have developed a variety of physical security solutions to mitigate or remove the risk of hardware thefts. The computer cable locks, which resemble those used for bicycles. Computer alarms and motion detectors are advanced physical–security devices that sound an alarm when an unauthorized party tampers with or attempts to steal the system. The latest trend is storing credentials on Universal Serial Bus tokens, such as those available from Aladdin and Rainbow Technologies. The main addition Microsoft has made in Windows XP is the Internet Connection Firewall.
