ABSTRACT

Many elements make up a textile design; the construction method used, the yarns and fibres used and the way the fabric is coloured or patterned. Repetition is an important element in most textile designs, apart from some “one off’ pieces, and it is by repeating one section of the work that the pattern is formed. There are variations in the way sections that make up one repeat within a design can be repeated, from simple straight repeats and half drops through to repeats that follow complex mathematical formulae.
