ABSTRACT

Tactile aesthetics are important in user-product interaction, and therefore, should be a part of the Product Design Education Curriculum. Because little is known about the tactile aspects of the users’ experience of products, and even less about how designers should deal with these aspects within design projects, it is a challenge to integrate research and education about tactile aesthetics. To explore the potential of research embedded in a course in tactile a esthetics, a 40 hpilot course ‘Tactility’ was organised, for third year students of the School of Industrial Design from the Delft University of Technology.
