ABSTRACT

From the process steps narrated earlier, an intermediate product, called clinker, is obtained, which is subjected to the next step of grinding with gypsum and other additives, as required, to obtain the final product: Portland cement. This step in the cement manufacturing process involves various grinding systems. The differences in the design, layout, and operation of these systems reflect in the grinding of clinker. It has also been widely observed that the composition and crystal structure of the individual phases and their resultant microstructure control the overall grinding response of clinker.
