ABSTRACT
From the survey in Chapters 6 and 7, it should be clear that there are many statistical tools available to summarize the behavior of a single sample of real or simulated univariate data. Each technique is best suited to highlight structures of certain types and to answer questions of particular types about the distribution of the data. Only by trying a combination of graphical and numerical summaries can you hope to have a reasonable understanding of the data distribution.
