ABSTRACT

Measurement of the dependent variables of migration process equations such as concentrations, activities, and temperatures for all considered phases in the subsurface appears to be unattainable even in the future. Currently, measuring these variables is only possible in the mobile fluid phases, and then only after their separation from the immobile phases (see Figure 1.12). It is important to keep in mind that such fluid samples allow only the analysis of the intensive state variables of the subsurface. The estimation of the extensive subsurface state variables requires the analysis of the whole rock or soil sample.
