ABSTRACT
Chapter 2 introduces the tidycensus R package for working with United States Census data in R. The chapter helps users install and set up the package, then illustrates how to use the package to acquire data from the decennial US Census, American Community Survey, and other Census datasets. Topics covered include how to understand Census geography; searching for and requesting variables from the decennial Census and ACS; and customizing the output format of Census data queries.
