ABSTRACT

This chapter provides five recommended guidelines for successful applications to implement visual communication. These includes: Establish goals for the project, determine the need for changes in culture, establish a comprehensive plan, create the need and ensure the implementation. The visual communication becomes a true ally of the cultural project because of its ability to stimulate dialogue and overcome hierarchical barriers. Nevertheless, despite the usefulness of a comprehensive plan, a managerial approach should not be adopted that relies on an authoritarian mode of implementation. When a visual communication project is initiated, an early goal must be to stimulate the user's wish to remove the tool from its wrappings. The selection of information and its mode of presentation, the physical preparation of media, and the selection of locations should be carried out in cooperation with the people employed in the production units.
