ABSTRACT
The U.S. Water Resourees CouneiJ (1980) noted several signifieant attributes of aquifers that make these groundwater reservoirs important to water-resourees plan ning. These attributes include (1) widespread occurrence, (2) general capacity to transmit water over great distances, (3) generally large storage capacity, (4) usually good chemical and bacterial quality, and (5) manageability.
