Forabout100years,thecourtsoftheUnitedStateshaveaccordedatrade secretownertherighttopreventdisclosureorunauthorizeduseofthe tradesecretbythosewhoacquireitbyimproperandunfairmeansorwho seektoconvertittotheirownuseinbreachofaconfidentialrelationship. ThisrightwasreaffirmedbyourU.S.SupremeCourtin1974.Inessence, therightprotectedisonewhichstemsfromanobligationoffairness,and thecornerstoneoftherightisthatone'sprivatebusinessinformation whichgiveshimacompetitiveadvantagewillnotbetakenfromhim wrongfully.
