ABSTRACT

The main applications areas of textiles in agriculture include farming, animal husbandry and horticulture. A wide variety of textile products that are designed for general industrial applications are used in agriculture in great quantities. The most important requirements of textiles for agricultural applications are weather resistance and resistance to microorganisms. Dermal and respiratory pesticide exposure of agricultural workers involved in spray operations may be significant. The rubber industry uses textile yarns and fabrics extensively for reinforcement. Major fibers used in the rubber industry are cotton, viscose rayon, nylon, polyester, glass and aramids. General use rubber hoses usually consist of three layers: lining or tube, reinforcement or carcass and cover for protection. Depending on the requirements, aramid, carbon, cotton, flax, linen, rayon, nylon, polyester, polypropylene and glass fibers can be used as reinforcement materials. Large bags made of coated textile fabrics are very convenient to transport loose materials of one ton or more.
