ABSTRACT
In the first part of this chapter (sections 2.1-2.4) we recall the basic notions about infinite dimensional manifolds. We shall essentially follow [Kl]. Then we shall present the Ljusternik-Schnirelmann critical point theory (sections 2.5-2.6). Such theory is then applied to geodesics on Riemannian manifolds.
