ABSTRACT
A professional society, the Society of American Value Engineers, (SAVE) was organized in 1959 to promote the knowledge and application of Value Analysis/Engineering (VE). Since then, VE has been accepted worldwide as an extremely effective system to improve products and services for cost and productivity improvement. Recently, the society changed its name to SAVE International to better reflect this world. The job plan is the second most important element of VE. It is a formula for action that leads a team through the complete VE process from start to finish. The Job Plan is an extremely important part of the process. The Information Phase is critical to defining the problem. The Information Phase contains elements of the process exclusive to VE and critical to a successful project. Included are goal setting, function definition and analysis methods, the Argus System of the Function Analysis System Technique and function costing and evaluation.
