ABSTRACT

Methyl ethyl ketone is the most widely used ketone in industry because it exhibits outstanding solvent properties. The uses of methyl ethyl ketone include: as a solvent for nitrocellulose, lacquers, polystyrene, chlorinated rubber, polyurethane, acrylic coatings, and cleaning solutions; in the production of synthetic leathers, transparent paper, and aluminum foil; degreasing of metals; as an extraction solvent; in dewaxing applications; and as a solvent for production of smokeless powders.
